Hydraulic Cylinders for Mining Equipment and Bulk Material Handling

18 March 2026 6 min read

Mining and bulk material handling equipment runs long shifts in contaminated environments where a cylinder failure stops an entire production line. Heavy duty construction and contamination control drive the design.

Where cylinders are used in mining

  • Crusher adjustment and clamping cylinders.
  • Feeder, chute and flop-gate actuators.
  • Screen tensioning and conveyor take-up cylinders.
  • Haul truck and tipper body telescopic cylinders.

Design choices for abrasive environments

Heavy wall barrels resist impact and denting. Larger rod diameters reduce buckling risk on long strokes and add margin against side loading. Double rod wipers, or a wiper plus a scraper, keep abrasive dust out of the sealing package.

Where cylinders sit in wash-down or wet-processing areas, thicker hard chrome plating or nickel-chrome duplex plating meaningfully extends rod life.

Serviceability and spares

Mining customers usually standardise seal kits and rod sizes across a fleet so that a single spares holding covers many machines. We support that by keeping approved drawings on file and manufacturing repeat batches to the identical specification.

Frequently asked questions

What cylinder sizes do you manufacture for heavy duty applications?

We manufacture hydraulic cylinders in bores from 40 mm to 400 mm at working pressures up to 350 bar, in tie rod, welded and mill-type designs, built to customer drawings.

Can cylinders be supplied with test certificates?

Yes. Material test certificates, dimensional reports and hydrostatic test records can be supplied with the consignment on request.
